Two particular road events occurred this Wednesday in Rosario, which had as a common denominator the place where they happened: a small tunnel that connects the collectors of the Circunvalación avenue, located in the north of the city of Santa Fe. Although the pass has the corresponding signage, the drivers who carried out the accidents they made a miscalculation and had to be assisted to remove their vehicles.
The first event occurred in the morning hours and was carried out by a truck that distributes food and drinks: the tunnel is located in an area of large supermarkets. Despite the low height of the corridor, the driver wanted to go through there, and he succeeded. The roof of the vehicle touched the walls of the conduit and still managed to advance almost halfway, but eventually got stuck.
As can be seen in the images broadcast by the news channel Canal 3 de Rosario, the delivery truck He had to be assisted by a crane to get out of there. The driver was able to withdraw on his own.
Just a few hours later a bus on line 141 from Rosario tried to go through the same tunnel and suffered the same fate. The driver made a miscalculation and, although it can be seen at a glance that the vehicle exceeds the maximum height, he tried to cross the corridor.
Unlike what happened with the truck, on this occasion the group did not manage to enter the tunnel, but instead It hit the concrete wall of it. No injuries were recorded but the driver had to contact the helpdesk of the company to which line 141 belongs to take the unit out of service and assess the damage.
They have been difficult days in terms of traffic for part of Rosario, as a result of the court made by a group of protesters on the bridge that connects the city of Santa Fe with Victoria, in rejection of the court ruling that imposed a “total ban” for commercial and sport fishing until March 31.
The fishermen implemented an intermittent cut every 20 minutes last Tuesday, to allow the movement of the stranded vehicles. Finally, after a meeting with the competent authorities, in the afternoon the protest was lifted.
In Buenos Aires
Another event of particular characteristics – but with much more serious consequences – took place last Monday in the City of Buenos Aires, more precisely in Palermo. It all happened around 1:40 p.m., when a group of workers who were carrying out tasks in a construction were surprised by a truck that dumped its full load of glass on them. A few minutes later, agents of the City Fire Brigades arrived to assist them.
As can be seen in the images that were published by the official Twitter account of the Undersecretariat of Emergencies of the City Government, the first thing the firefighters did was to immobilize the people who suffered the consequences of falling windows. Then they were quickly diagnosed so that they would receive due care.
Three of the victims were taken to the Fernández hospital with a diagnosis of multiple injuries. Two others were referred to the Tornú hospital, with injuries to their knees. All of them also had cuts on their faces.
The sixth person affected, with minor cuts, was treated on the spot and it was not necessary to take her to a medical center.
While looking to find out what caused the truck to overturn its load, the pedestrian crossing in Bonpland was cut for a few hours in 2000 to prevent passers-by from being injured by the glass that was left on the floor.
