The COVID-19 vaccine from #Pfizer and #BioNTech could start be marketed this summer in #Mexico, because the private sector has started conversations with the pharmacist. #However, it is only an attempt, since the doses have not been distributed to the private hands of any country in the world, said #Juvenal #Becerra, president of the #National #Union of #Pharmacy #Entrepreneurs (#Unefarm).

“They told us that more or less in #June or #July we could sit down to talk (talk) about when the vaccine might be available for private initiative”, #Said #Becerra to the agency EFE during a telephone interview.

The president of #Unefarm explained that despite the fact that the #Federal #Commission for the #Protection against #Sanitary #Risks (#Cofepris) has already approved the #Pfizer vaccine to be applied in the population without restrictions, the production of the pharmaceutical company destined for #Mexico is committed to the federal government.

#It should be remembered that #Mexico was the fourth country to approve the #Pfizer and #BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 in the world and is the first in #Latin #America to apply the dose.

#Although the options for companies to do business with the US pharmaceutical are limited, do not rule out reaching agreements with other manufacturers as #Moderna or #AstraZeneca.

“Regarding the #AstraZeneca and #Moderna vaccine, we are waiting for the #Cofepris to give the registration (authorization). #We maintain contact with them but we have not yet been able to sit down on this issue ”, he pointed out.

#In this sense, #Patrick #Devlyn, health commissioner of the #Business #Coordinating #Council (CCE), indicated on #December 16 that the private sector has had offers to acquire and collaborate with the government vaccination campaign the following year.

“We have capacity, talent, cold network infrastructure, we we can support with work centers where we can apply the vaccine”, #Said the businessman in an interview with #Carlos #Loret de #Mola, in his program #Así las cosas de #On the radio.

#Devlyn assured that #It is “much more expensive” for companies to have employees who, being part of a population at risk, do not go to work than to pay for their vaccination#Hence their interest in joining the government’s actions.

“#We agree that we are going to join a program for early detection of infections and have two fronts where we are collaborating,” he said.

#It should be remembered that last weekend a controversy was fought on #Twitter, after a #Rumor that in #Mexico the vaccine against COVID-19 could be purchased personally, while in other countries it is just beginning to be applied in a dropper.

#Subsequently, the president #Andrés #Manuel López #Obrador, said in a video posted #Sunday afternoon, that he I would have no objections if private initiative could buy vaccines abroad to later market them in the country.

“It has been said that why it is not allowed to be sold in pharmacies. #Of course, if there are companies that want to buy the vaccine abroad, we have no impediment, that is, so that the vaccine that is bought abroad is sold“, said.

#Furthermore, in his morning lecture on #Monday, he reiterated his position by noting that there will be no limitations for private companies to market the vaccine#However, until that moment none had approached to request the import of doses.

“We are not opposed to it being marketed and sold to those who have to pay for the vaccine, the vaccine exists in the world market because there is still not enough production”, #He detailed.
