#Kirk #Herbstreit’s #New #Year’s #Day plans have changed because of a COVID-19 diagnosis.
The analyst for ESPN’s #College #GameDay tweeted #Tuesday night that he was diagnosed earlier in the week, and he and his family are feeling fine. #But because he is going through COVID-19 protocols, he said he will have to work from home.
#So he said he he’ll do his #GameDay gig (9 a.m.-noon ET) from there, plus call the #College #Football #Playoff semifinal between #No. 2 #Clemson and #No. 3 #Ohio #State in the #Sugar #Bowl.
#That game, a rematch of the 2019 semifinal that was won by #Clemson, will be played at the #Mercedes-Benz #Superdome in #New #Orleans (8 ET, ESPN).
#Herbstreit, who has been with ESPN since 1996, was an #Ohio #State quarterback from 1989-92. #His dad, #Jim, also played there, but #Kirk’s sons, #Tye and #Jake, play for #Clemson.
#Another ESPN/ABC analyst, #Greg #McElroy, who was scheduled to call #Wednesday’s #Cotton #Bowl between #No. 7 #Oklahoma and #No. 10 #Florida, also announced he had tested positive for COVID-19.
