Boston Dynamics taught its haunting robots to dance

#Boston #Dynamics has changed hands again. #It is now owned by #Hyundai, but remains true to its traditional christmas greeting. #For your latest video, the company has taught its haunting robots to dance #Do #You #Love #Me of #Countours with an agility that renders our notion of “robot dance ”.

#Atlas, the anthropomorphic robot, #Spot, the famous quadruped robot, and #Handle, a last #Boston #Dynamics robot designed to move boxes, they have taken the leap onto the dance floor to show that machines can move with style too. #And they do it so naturally that they seem computer-generated.

#But not this it’s CGI. #In fact, nor is it the first time that we see #Boston #Dynamics robots dancing, and we’ve already seen #Atlas doing parkour and other spectacular stunts, but the complicated choreography of #Do #You #Love #Me includes new tricks like balancing on a solo stand up and dance the twist.

The video lets us see a funnier side of these robots programmed with machine learning, but it contains a disturbing #Easter egg that you may have overlooked: in one of the shots it can be seen on the wall was a hockey stick like the one #Boston #Dynamics engineers used to hit #Atlas when he was still learning to balance. #It’s amazing how far the robot has come since then.
