French Montana’s 1-year sober after ‘pills’ led to ICU stay

#French #Montana revealed spending more than a week in the ICU last year was not only the result of exhaustion but also drug abuse.

The 36-year-old rapper admitted to XXL magazine that the hospitalization was “a combination of a lot of things: being fatigued, dehydrated, you know, losing myself chasing money, chasing the wrong things.”

#Upon returning to #Los #Angeles after his birthday, #Montana collapsed.

“Too much drinking, too many pills, you know, boom,” he shared.

The “No #Stylist” performer said his “hobby” would be taking #Adderall to stay up and then swallowing #Percocet for pain relief. #It eventually became an addiction.

“I feel like 90 percent of musicians on that,” he said. “It was just overdoing something for too long, and, to the point where, now sober is becoming my new high. #People seen I was out of control, not me, you know what I’m saying?

“’#Cause, you know, it’s almost like, you know, working out. #You don’t see you getting big ’cause you see yourself every day,” he continued. “It’s the same thing with you being out of control.”

#Page #Six confirmed at the time of #Montana’s hospitalization that he checked in as a result of cardiac issues and nausea. #Following his release, he was placed on a month-long bed rest.

“The new thing is the triple R thing: #You gotta be rich in health, rich in spirit and rich with money,” he maintained. “If all you got is money, you don’t got nothing. #And that’s the thing that I got closer to, you know. #And you got closer to #God, too.”

#Montana’s metamorphosis occurred inside and out. #In #May 2020, he flaunted his six-pack abs, which he said was a result of honoring #Ramadan, the #Islamic fasting holiday.

“That’s why I took a break. I said, ‘Look, as I hard I was going on my grind, I’m ’bout to go on myself.’ … #And I just, you know, I just did #French 2.0,” he explained to the magazine. “And this is how I changed it. #Stepped back, took two steps back, didn’t drop no music, detox from social media … everybody is drugged up … #Everything got control of my life but me, you know what I’m saying?”

“And I think that was like the hardest thing I ever did in my life, to snatch myself back,” he continued. “So, for me to stop everything and just step back, that was like one of my biggest accomplishments. … #So that was the day, it was #Nov. 21, [2019] last year.

“And since that day, I never had a drink. I just made a year.”
