#Brazil registered in the last 24 hours 1,111 new deaths from covid, the highest number of deaths for one day in three and a half months, since #September 15 (1,113), and that approximates the total of victims to about 193,000, reported this #Tuesday the #Ministry of #Health.

#This is the second time this month that #Brazil has registered more than a thousand deaths a day from coronavirus (on #December 17 there were 1,092), something that had not happened since #September 30 and shows the recrudescence of the disease in one of the countries most affected by the pandemic in the world.

#According to the bulletin released this #Tuesday by the #Ministry, in the last 24 hours there were also registered 58,718 new cases of coronavirus, the highest number of infections since #December 24 (60,080).

#According to official data, since the first case of the disease was confirmed on #February 26, #Until this #Tuesday, #Brazil accumulates 192,681 deaths from coronavirus and 7,563,551 infections.

The figures confirm #Brazil, with its 210 million inhabitants, as one of the global epicenters of the pandemic, as the second country with the most deaths from covid in the world after the #United #States and as the third with the most cases after the #United #States and #India.

The number of deaths this #Tuesday is much higher than in the last four days (431 on #Monday, 344 on #Sunday, 307 on #Saturday and 482 on #Friday), which was attributed to an update of the figures after the long holiday.

The reduction in deaths in the previous days was caused by the smaller number of officials processing the data in the middle of a prolonged holiday that practically began on #Thursday, on the eve of #Christmas.

The averages, however, show that the numbers of deaths and infections have grown significantly in recent days and that #Brazil may be suffering a second wave of the pandemic without ever having overcome the first, something that is denied by the #Government.

THE AVERAGE DEATHS IN BRAZIL FROM COVID IS 706 DAILY

#According to the #Ministry of #Health, the daily average of deaths in the last 14 days #This #Tuesday stood at 706, with a growth of 10.14% compared to that registered two weeks ago (641 deaths on #December 15).

The average number of infections in the last 14 days, meanwhile, grew by 1.75% in two weeks, from 41,660 cases on #December 15 to 42,390 this #Tuesday.

#According to data from the #Ministry, with about 6.65 million patients already recovered and discharged (87.9% of the total) and another 723,332 still under medical observation (9.5%), the fatality rate of covid in #Brazil stood at 2.6% of all infected this #Tuesday.

The incidence rate of the disease reached 3,599 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the mortality rate reached 92 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.

The government announced this month a vaccination plan that foresees that the 210 million #Brazilians will be immunized in a total period of 16 months and in a five-phase process, which will begin with doctors and the elderly.

The plan, however, does not yet have a start date, but the #Brazilian president, #Jair #Bolsonaro, ensures that the vaccination will be started within a period of five days after the first vaccination is approved by the health authorities.

The president alleges that if the country still does not have a date for the start of vaccination or approved antidotes, it is not the responsibility of the authorities, but rather the delay of the laboratories themselves to request the registration of their products in the country.

The president recalled that his #Government has already decided to allocate the sum of 20,000 million reais (about 4,000 million dollars) to the purchase of vaccines, of which it does not yet have a dose but is negotiating with the laboratories #Pfizer, #AstraZeneca-Oxford, #Moderna , #Janssen and #Bharat #Biotech.
