#Dec 30 (#Reuters) – #European equity markets rose on #Wednesday after the #British government approved the vaccine developed by #AstraZeneca in conjunction with the #University of #Oxford, while expectations for more aid for the pandemic in the US and #Vaccination efforts in many countries raised hopes for a strong global economic recovery in 2021.
The pan-European STOXX 600 was up 0.1% at 0810 GMT, hovering around the 10-month high set in the previous session.
#AstraZeneca shares were up 1.3% in #London. The #British pharmacist said the authorization was for a two-dose regimen and that the vaccine had been approved for emergency use at a time when the #United #Kingdom was battling a highly contagious new variant of the virus.
#Turnover was low in most markets in the region, with many investors absent for the end of the year holidays.
