Two days after the discovery of a body in Lake Cospuden in Markkleeberg, it is clear that the young man has drowned. This is what the obduction has revealed. The 22-year-old had also been using drugs and alcohol before his death. Further investigations will now be carried out, it said. It was a question of the extent to which the intoxicating substances in his blood were to blame for the accident.
Initially, the police had not ruled out a crime. When police divers pulled the man out of the water on the eastern shore of the lake on Whit Monday, he had a puncture wound to the head. However, this was not the cause of the man’s death, police said. Nor is there any evidence of external influence. There is currently no suspicion of a criminal offence.
No lifeguard planned
Meanwhile, the city of Markkleeberg has announced that it does not plan to supervise bathing in its area on Lake Cospuden. Instead, the city wants to have the beach on Lake Markkleeberg guarded, said city spokesman Daniel Kreusch MDR SACHSEN. A container for the rescue workers had already been provided. Currently the beach is still closed.
