A villa was engulfed in flames at 2 a.m., Monday to Tuesday night at Pont. The sole occupant of the premises was found there. Very agitated, he was taken to the North Vaud Psychiatry Center.
Found at the scene of a fire by the cantonal police, a 31-year-old Swiss man physically attacked a gendarme and an ambulance driver. He is the sole tenant of the burnt building to which he is suspected of having started the fire.
A little earlier in the night from Monday to Tuesday, i.e. shortly before 2 a.m., the emergency services were informed by a neighbor that the disaster had occurred in this dwelling located at the exit of the village of Pont, in the direction of Vallorbe. When the intervention teams arrived, large flames were coming out of the building, the attic of which was destroyed. The apartment on the ground floor has suffered considerable water damage, but it is still too early to know whether the whole can be rehabilitated.
The occupant, who was able to leave the house on his own, was in a “state of great agitation,” said the cantonal police in a statement. As a result, the doctor on duty ordered a placement for the purpose of assistance (PLAFA). It was on his arrival at the Center de psychiatrie du Nord Vaudois that he hit an ambulance driver on the head, before biting a policeman until he bled. According to two inhabitants of the region, he is “a fragile guy”.
