LH Mikl-Leitner emphasized the importance of culture
St. Polten (OTS) – The “Kultur.Sommer.Semmering” officially opened by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner in the Sudbahnhotel am Semmering on Friday evening. The program included “A pilgrimage to Beethoven – Of revolutionary times and revolutionary music” with artistic director Florian Krumpock at the piano and Erwin Steinhauer. The ceremony included state councilor Jochen Danninger, the artist personality Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee, Ingried Brugger, head of the Bank Austria Art Forum, and numerous artists and cultural professionals.
“We have had to forego culture in the past few months,” said the governor. “We, who appreciate, like, love and need culture, missed it and also had contact with the artists. It was hard months for the creative artists, all events, all performances were canceled. We are all looking forward to this opening all the more, ”she emphasized.
“For many people, the Semmering is something very special,” continued Mikl-Leitner. “The Semmering is a place that made history,” she mentioned another aspect, recalling the Semmering Railway and the beautiful architecture, among other things. “This place was a meeting point for the aristocracy, for Austrian society and also for many creative artists like Arthur Schnitzler or Stefan Zweig. We want the Semmering to regain the meaning it once had, ”explained the governor. “The best confirmation that we are serious about this is the ‘Kultur.Sommer.Semmering'”, says Mikl-Leitner.
Mayor Hermann Doppelreiter said: “The” Kultur.Sommer.Semmering “is one of the highest quality cultural events in southern Lower Austria. We are already experiencing the tenth series of events this year ”.
Due to the Corona crisis, all events had to be directed to just one venue and the ideas from the Kurhaus Semmering had to be relocated to the somewhat more spacious Sudbahnhotel. Of the entire program with 65 literary-musical performances, only one performance had to be brought forward by one day. The seating was arranged in such a way that the one-meter distance between the individual visitors and groups of visitors can be maintained by up to four people. A security concept has been developed for entry, pause and leaving the show.
Arthur Suditzler’s “Dream Novel” with Joseph Lorenz will be presented in the Sudbahnhotel this Saturday from 3.30 pm and from 7.30 pm the literary and musical program “Togetherness” designed by Erika Pluhar and Adi Hirschal and accompanied by Roland Guggenbichler on the piano. On Sunday, July 12th, Maria Kostlinger and Jurgen Maurer followed with humor on the subject of love from 11 a.m., before Joseph Lorenz had an artist talk with artistic director Florian Krumpock from 2 p.m. and interpreted Arthur Schnitzler’s “Game at Dawn” from 3:30 p.m. Tomorrow also Thomas Gansch, Leonhard Paul and Albert Wieder invite you to a “Menage a trois” inspired by George Michael, Franz Schubert, Johann Straub, Udo Jurgens, Henry Mancini, Billy Joel and others.
