In its monthly statistical report on cargo, ships and passengers, the agency reported that 2,150,815 TEU transited through the Pacific ports, representing -9.8% if they are compared with 2,385,754 from the same period of the previous year.
In this first semester of 2020 the port of Manzanillo handled 1,404,215 TEU, which translates to -7.1% compared to 1,512,284 previous; while Lazaro Cardenas operated 523,589 TEU, that is, -20.9% based on 662,060 in the same cycle of 2019.
On that same coastline, Ensenada registered 168,186 (+ 16.1%); Puerto Chiapas 24,422 (-16.3%); Mazatlan 20,958 (-9.3%); Guaymas 8,006 (-35.9%); and, Salina Cruz 1,439 (-21.9%).
Based on the report prepared by the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine of the SCT, The ports of the Gulf of Mexico operated from January to June this year a total of 981,384 containers that, in proportion to 1,135,962 in the first semester of the previous year, they show -13.6 percent.
The port of Veracruz handled 494,202 containers, which means -13.1% if they are opposed to 568,906 previous; as long as Altamira it reached 374,330 TEU, this is -15.7% compared to 444,258 in the first half of the previous year.
The port of Progress operated 72,153 (-13.4%); Tuxpan 17,047 (-18.1%); Coatzacoalcos 13,824 (+41.9%%); Tampico 6,712 (+ 39.3%); and, Puerto Morelos 3,116 (-23.2%).
Of the total containers operated in Mexican ports, both full and empty, 1,549,266 containers were imported, -10.9% based on previous 1,739,340; while in exports they totaled 1,580,396, although with -11.2% against 1,779,331 TEU in the same year-on-year period.
Of this total, the containers full they amounted to 2,168,350, -11.9% compared to 2,460,116 previously; while the empty they reached 963,849, but with -9.2% in proportion to 1,061,600 in the first half of last year.
