A twenty-seventh Dutch mink farm has been infected with SARS-Cov-2 in Oploo, in the Dutch province of North Brabant.

The 3,500 mothers of the farm will be slaughtered as quickly as possible. The infections were discovered during weekly testing of small mammal carcasses.

The Netherlands subsequently banned the transport of these animals, raised for their fur. There will also be a regulation allowing the short-term voluntary shutdown for breeders.

In 2016, the country’s highest court ordered the closure of mink farms by 2024.
