Duncan Campbell: UB40 singer had a stroke

Sad news for UB40 fans. The singer of the British group, Duncan Campbell (62), suffered from a cardiovascular accident. In a statement, the group from Birmingham explains that their colleague should get by.

“We can confirm that our singer and brother Duncan Campbell was taken to hospital after having a stroke. We can also report that he is already on his feet, ”he explained in a statement posted on Twitter, while asking fans to respect his family’s privacy at this inevitably difficult time.

The group wish Duncan Campbell a “quick and strong recovery” and have already announced that they will be touring again next year. “We can’t wait to see you on the road next spring,” he announced. The singer had become the frontman of UB40 when his brother, Ali, left the group in 2008.

Before he rose to fame with UB40, Duncan Campbell professionally played music with spoons, then was a casino manager in Barbados, before opening a fish and chip restaurant in Australia.

Last year, Brian Travers, the saxophonist and one of the band’s founding members, was unable to take part in UB40’s 40th anniversary tour. He had suffered from an epileptic seizure. He was then diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery.
