JAKARTA, KOMPAS TV – The Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Bambang Soesatyo, asked the National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis to consider using a 9mm caliber bullet type pistol for civil society.
The purpose of possession of this gun is nothing but self-defense. For civil society who want to have it, it must meet the requirements for possession of firearms.
The man who is familiarly called Bamsoet explained, there is the Police Chief Regulation (Perkap) No. 18 of 2015 which regulates the types of firearms that can be possessed, namely limited to 12 GA caliber rifles and 22, 25 and 32 caliber pistols.

“Actually, in many countries, it has been permitted to use a 9 mm caliber pistol,” Bamsoet said on Saturday (1/8/2020).
“Maybe the National Police Chief could consider revising the Perkap.”
As is known, in the Perkap, there are three types of firearms that may be owned to defend themselves. In addition to real bullet firearms, there are rubber bullet firearms and gas bullet firearms.
