Walker’s double in 8th drives Diamondbacks against Dodgers

Christian Walker connected a three-run double in the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks left behind their losing streak in attack and came from behind on Friday to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3.

In the first seven episodes, Arizona had made just one score on five hits.

With a 3-1 disadvantage on the board in the eighth, the Diamondbacks filled the bases against Blake Treinen (0-1) and Walker shot a double that grazed the glove of center fielder Mookie Betts. The Venezuelan David Peralta followed with a single tug for the final 5-3.

Also Venezuelan Hector Rondon (1-0) took an out in the eighth inning for his first victory with Arizona. Archie Bradley ticketed and admitted a Betts double in the ninth before eliminating Cody Bellinger for his second save on three opportunities.

The defeat was Treinen’s record after conceding a hit and four touchdowns in two-thirds of labor.

Betts rocked his first homer with the Dodgers, hit three hits, drove in two runs and made a sensational long pitch for one out in the third inning. Corey Seager pulled her out of the park for the third straight game.

For the Dodgers, Puerto Rican Edwin Rios 2-1, with a run scored.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Ketel Marte 4-2, with two runs scored; Starling Mars 3-0. Venezuelans Eduardo Escobar 3-0, with one scored; David Peralta 4-2, with a RBI; Ildemaro Vargas 4-0.
