Red Bull Salzburg’s last hurdle on the way to their second participation in the UEFA Champions League is Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Israel’s champions defeat Dinamo Brest from Belarus 1-0 lackluster, the decision is made by a penalty from Dan Biton (50th).

The game dates are September 23rd and 30th, Salzburg has to play the first leg away.

After 2009 (1: 2 and 0: 3 against Maccabi Haifa) and 2010 (2: 3 and 1: 1 against Hapoel Tel Aviv) it is the third play-off clash between Salzburg and an Israeli club.

Former Israeli team player Itay Shechter (33), of whom the “cops” have bad memories, is one of the most famous players in the Maccabi squad. He was part of the Hapoel Tel Aviv team in 2010.

In Israel there are currently two rounds played in the current championship. Maccabi have not yet fully posted a draw and a defeat.

Lovrencsics (2nd) gives the hosts an early lead, a Uzuni own goal brings Dinamo back (23rd).
