#During this year, #Social distance became one of the most recommended measures to avoid COVID-19 infections. A handshake was replaced by a bump of the elbows and some meetings turned into video calls.

The dates in restaurants, dances in clubs, as well as kisses and hugs were temporarily suspended. #However, during these times where the use of antibacterial gel prevails, The question remains as to how risky it is to have sex in this context.

#Regarding the above, #Miguel #Peredo, from the “Taking sex education” brigade of the #Mexico #City #Youth #Institute (INJUVE) explained how convenient it is to have sex in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

#Peredo recalled that the coronavirus is transmitted through the respiratory tract, whether by sneezing, coughing, talking, singing or yelling. Therefore, the measures implemented from the beginning of the health contingency, such as the use of a mask, can reduce the probability of acquiring the virus.

“The presence of the virus has not yet been found within the pre-ejaculatory fluid, semen or vaginal fluids, for this reason we can rest assured that in this way transmission will not occur, however, we must use the condom since we would not be taking care of an unplanned pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection, “he said.

#Likewise, The brigadista stressed that kissing should be avoided as far as possible, since it is through saliva that the virus can be transmitted. #In this sense, he said that the risk of contagion can decrease if it is known that the couple has implemented the same care measures as one.

“#If we do not know the person with whom we are going to exchange kisses, it is preferable to avoid them so that we also have self-care measures and thus not acquire this disease”, #He pointed.

The representative of INJUVE pointed out that sexual intercourse encompasses more than just penetration, so in the current situation, people can resort to other forms of stimulation and thus continue to enjoy without exposing themselves.

#We know that inside during this social isolation our possibilities of interacting with another are diminished, however, it does not necessarily have to be like that, you have you and your body. The only limit will be your imagination, remember to stimulate yourself through the senses or stimulate your partner through the senses as well, it can be through sight, taste, smell, touch ”, concluded #Miguel #Peredo.

#Recently, lhe #Public #Health #Agency of #Barcelona made a series of recommendations to maintain safe sexual relations in times of pandemic. #Among the most prominent are: showering or washing hands with soap and water before and after sex; as well as sanitizing, with these same elements, the sex toys if used.

#This guide also mentions that the risk of contagion is lower if the intercourse takes place in open spaces or those with good ventilation. #In addition, it expresses that the risk of becoming infected is low when you have sex between cohabitants who have not been exposed to the virus.
