The stimulus check increase from $ 600 to $ 2,000 was blocked in the #Senate by #Republicans and stalled just days after #Congress ends its session next #Sunday.

#Senate #Majority #Leader #Mitch #McConnell blocked a new effort by #Democrats to vote on increasing the taxpayer subsidy for the pandemic based on the proposal that the lower house approved #Monday.

#Saying that #House measure to increase aid to $ 2,000 “has no realistic chance of passing quickly in the #Senate”, #McConnell practically buried #Democratic hopes for immediate approval of the subsidy increase.
