Recommendations to be met by the patient and his family, after graduating from hospitalization for Covid-19 | THE IMPARTIAL

HERMOSILLO.-After leaving the hospital for #Covid-19, it is likely that the patient will present sequelae or residual injuries, so they must comply with some recommendations when recovering at home.

The #Institute of #Social #Security and #Services for #Workers of the #State of #Sonora (#Isssteson), through its #Epidemiology department, reveals that post-Covid patients should continue to take care of themselves.

The #Department of #Preventive #Medicine, detailed that when a patient overcomes the virus, his body must initiate a recovery process, which can be slow on some occasions.

#Among the sequelae that occur are listed fatigue, shortness of breath when performing activities, cough, difficulty swallowing or speaking loudly, and even cardiovascular problems.

#Martín #Enrique Márquez Córdova, state epidemiologist at the #Institute, reported that the patient may also present muscle weakness, fatigue, poor mental clarity, emotional disturbances, post-traumatic stress, nightmares, anxiety and even depression.

“#It is important that every post-COVID patient is well received at home in the best way, since he was isolated, incommunicado and is already in recovery, that is why we ask his family to feel the love and comfort of returning home, but always applying health measures, “explained Márquez Córdova.

#He said that after discharge, the patient and his family must maintain a healthy distance at all times, use the mask, wash their hands frequently, since in this way the harmonious reestablishment of their body can be guaranteed and the person is prevented from in recovery suffer a relapse from the virus or other illnesses.

“The family must be aware that the patient’s immune system is weakened and that they represent a risk for the recovering relative, that is why we must follow all the rules of care,” said the #Isssteson specialist.

#He explained that everyone can use the same bathroom, but it must be sanitized after use, each member of the family must have their own plate, glass, cups and utensils, in addition that the patient in recovery must have their own bed, sheets, their own towel.

Márquez Córdova also recommended complying with certain breathing exercises to strengthen his lungs, following the medical indications to the letter and good nutrition based on vitamins A, C, D and E, as well as #Zinc and #Selenium.

“#It is advisable for the family and the patient himself to be fully informed of everything they must do. #At #Isssteson our doctors help guide them and the #Institute continues to monitor their evolution once they have been discharged,” he said. the #Institution specialist.

#Everyone who lives in the home should wash their hands well and frequently for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol gel.

#Every day a household cleaner or wipe should be used to clean the surfaces of the room.

#Avoid the excess of some cleaning products, such as bleach or sprays.

#Foods rich in vitamin A: eggs, cereals, milk, red and white meat, cod liver oil, lettuce, carrot, mango, pumpkin, melon, tomatoes, spinach, chard, papaya, among others.

#Foods rich in vitamin C: orange, grapefruit, melon, kiwi, mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberry, watermelon, blueberries, peppers, parsley, broccoli, among others.

#Foods rich in vitamin D: salmon, tuna, beef liver, cheese, egg yolk, mushrooms, milk, soy, nuts, among others.

#Foods rich in vitamin E: #Corn, sunflower, safflower, soy and avocado oils, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pistachios, beans, lentils, chickpeas, spinach, broccoli, avocado, among others.

#Foods rich in #Zinc: #Beef, pork and poultry, fish, eggs, oysters, clams, among others.

#Foods rich in selenium: #Brazil nuts, red meats, pork and poultry, garlic, eggs, whole wheat bread, rice, wheat, tuna, salmon, clams, shrimp, among others.
