The movie “Trail of Ashes”, filmed entirely in Puerto Rico, premieres tomorrow, December 1, on “Internet on demand” and “cable on demand”.
Written and directed by Arturo Lizardi and produced together with Samari Vega, shows the story of how a search carried out by the daughter of an empress brings together two lost brothers, who grew up on opposite sides of the war and now have to choose between family ties or political alliances.
“As a writer and director, I had the privilege of bringing this stark world to life and translating it for the screen. When we think of the fantasy genre, we think of the trilogy of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Game of Thrones’, among others, which required large amounts of money to make “, said Lizardi, actor, director, writer and producer from Caguas. “This film was made entirely by private investment, and the effort of family and friends who gave us their hands throughout the process. I had to get creative and turn the genre around to make the movie work. This story did not require great battles or fantastic creatures, it only needed to portray raw emotions, sacrifice and sense of terror ”.
Being a local production, it has a special flavor for the producers. “I believe in the ability of ‘Trail of Ashes’ to initiate a positive change in the perspective of other people on Puerto Rican cinema”, commented Vega, who wrote, directed and produced the short film “Foreigner”, officially selected in the Latin Film Market and for the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. “As a filmmaker, I believe that success is achieved when you tell a story that comes from a place of empathy and authenticity and touches the viewer in a special way. ‘Trail of Ashes’ has achieved that in me and I want the world to feel the same, ”explained Vega.
This English-language film starred by Lizardi, Héctor Escudero, Cecilia Arguelles and Carlos Miranda, was acquired by the company Gravitas Ventures for distribution in North America. It will be available on “internet on demand” and “cable on demand” in media such as: Prime Video, FandangoNow, iTunes, Google Play, Dish y Comcast, among others.
