CAN Women 2020: Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea candidates

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has registered the candidacies of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea for the organization of the final phase of the next women’s CAN 2020, said its secretary general, Abdelmounaïm Bah.

In this period when all eyes are on solutions to fight the coronavirus pandemic, we would forget some important subjects. In particular the host country of the CAN Women 2020

The competition is still without an organizing country since last year’s withdrawal from the initially designated Congo. Since then CAF has opened a call for candidates to designate the new host country. Two countries came forward: Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. ‘’ The decision should be taken at the next Executive Committee in late April, but the latter was postponed ’’, due to the postponement of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) originally scheduled for April 4 to 25.

The Senegalese women’s team, winner of the West Zone A tournament last February in Sierra Leone, will play the qualifiers in this competition respectively against Liberia and Mali.
