536 people have entered the hospital, and 42 people have died from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Belgium, bringing the total number of victims to 220.
“Since the beginning of March, the number of daily tests carried out by the laboratories (the national reference center and the other clinical laboratories which carry out the test) has increased. Over several days, more than 2,000 tests were performed per day. The percentage of positive tests shows an increasing trend, with a percentage of around 30% in recent days. This upward trend can be explained by the combination of increased virus circulation, a stricter possible case definition, and the use of laboratory triage systems, which have given priority to the most urgent samples. To date, a total of 6,235 confirmed cases have been reported; 3,880 cases (62%) in Flanders, 1,490 (24%) cases in Wallonia, and 709 (11%) cases in Brussels. Data on place of residence were not available for 156 cases (3%). “Reports the FPS Health.
