Canadas public health administrator, Dr. Theresa Tam, suggested at a press conference on Thursday that this would be the most “reasonable” approach found so far.
Since Wednesday, anyone arriving in Canada from abroad has been ordered to stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
If a traveler is slightly ill and has their own vehicle to go home, they can get there without a problem, says Dr. Tam.
She specifies that a traveler who has symptoms and who has no means of private transportation will be taken to a place chosen by the federal government to live in his forties.
Those who are not sick will have to get to their place of residence as quickly as possible, she added.
Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu said travelers en route to their homes will be entitled to a mask in case they start to feel sick.
