The two musicians started with Bach’s Sonata in C minor for violin and piano and then played Bach’s famous motif “Air”. After the song “A Chloris” by Venezuelan French composer Reynaldo Hahn (1874-1947), they ended the concert with Franz Schubert’s “An die Musik”.
“It is music that connects us today,” said Hope. As a guest on Thursday evening, he announced the singer Max Raabe. Hope also campaigned for donations to the Corona Emergency Aid Fund of the German Orchestra Foundation for freelance musicians who are massively affected by the cancellation of numerous events.
British violinist Daniel Hope, who was born in South Africa and lives in Berlin, is one of the best-known classical artists in Germany. He is Artistic Director of the Dresden Frauenkirche and, recently, President of the Beethoven House in Bonn.
