(Winnipeg) Winnipeg Jets striker Bryan Little has suffered a perforated eardrum and is experiencing vertigo-like symptoms after being shot near the ear during a game.
Jets head coach Paul Maurice spoke to reporters on Thursday and gave an update on Little's state of health.
Maurice expects Little to fully recover from his injury, but he has not set a deadline for the return of the 31-year-old.
Little was injured in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. He skated behind the net when his teammate Nikolaj Ehlers shot a shot from the edge. The puck touched the left side of Little's head, which collapsed on the ice.
Little was transported to St. Boniface Hospital where he received 25 to 30 stitches to close a laceration before being transferred to the Neurological Unit of the Winnipeg Health and Science Center.
The Jets took the opportunity to call forward Joona Luoto of the Manitoba Moose.
