Armin Veh has given up sports as managing director. Add to that the sportive failure and the menacing crash on the relegation zone.
Two years ago, in the case of StOger, the association experienced what it means to recognize developments too late. That's why the separation of coach Beierlorzer took place yesterday.
Of course, this was by no means only dependent on the outcome of the game against Hoffenheim. And yet this last game of Beierlorzer was the end of a series of breakdowns, the lack of positive signals and just the failure.

Cadre development not driven forward
The penalty in the game against Hoffenheim is also symbolic of Achim Beierlorzer. He also had a lot of bad luck with his team in recent weeks.
But the decision against him also has a perspective basis. Beierlorzer has almost never brought his announced game philosophy up to 70 minutes against Dortmund on the pitch. He has not pushed the development of a very good squad, players like Mere, Cordoba and Modeste became problematic under him.
After being delayed far too long at StOger's, we have reacted to a negative development early on, perhaps in good time.
Veh took the risk with Beierlorzer
Bruno Labbadia was on the market in summer and he would have come too.
That would have worked. An experienced coach for a newcomer, with good coach reference, with a good relationship with the club from player times, a confessed friend of the city of Cologne and very essential: a spirited and suitable for Cologne type.

Veh, however, went the other way and decided – instead of the experienced trainer Labbadia – to try another greenhorn after Markus Anfang. This way was quite creative and authentic, but also clearly riskier and as a climber quite even a bit voracious.
Veh took the risk. Now the others have to fetch it.
Cologne bosses are not to be envied
In the now precarious situation Labbadia has waved off as a coach. They did not want him in the summer, as a firefighter he does not want them now.
Bruno's evil boomerang hits the FC in a market of missing alternatives right in the heart, from Labbadia's point of view, he is absolutely understandable.
The club management must now quickly get creative and find in the next 15 days, not only a coach, but also a sports director, who wears this coach.
A double job, the Bureau and the acting sports chief Frank Aehlig are not to be envied.
