Coach Jurgen Klopp has made another important step towards the much-anticipated championship in England with Liverpool. The Premier League leaders defeated defending champion Manchester City 3-1 (2-0) on Sunday and are now nine points ahead of Pep Guardiola's team. Fabinho (6th minute), Mohamed Salah (13th) and Sadio Mane (51.) made fun of their goals on Matchday 12 at Anfield. The score of Bernardo Silva (78 ') for the guests came too late.
The Reds have thus brought 34 counters from the first twelve league games. Man City (25) is fourth in the international break. Eight points behind leaders Liverpool are the tied clubs Leicester City (place 2/26 points) and Chelsea FC (3rd place).
At first, ManCity seemed to get a better start in Anfield. And after just a few minutes, the visitors demanded a penalty because Trent Alexander-Arnold touched the ball in the penalty area with his arm. But instead, Fabinho shot Liverpool in the lead with the first chance in the lead. City put more pressure, but with the next counterattack, Salah headed home 2-0.

Also in the second half the team of coach Guardiola – with Claudio Bravo for the injured Ederson in goal – did not give up. But especially Sergio Aguero missed the goal several times. Liverpool did better. Mane also hit head-on against vulnerable "Citizens". After Silva hit the champions put the Reds again under significant pressure, but came in the hectic final phase only to the consensus goal.
