With the Speedfactory, Adidas wanted to be able to react to the trends in the increasingly hectic fashion business at lightning speed. Highly automated and close to the sales market, that was the formula. For customers who are prepared to pay some amazing sums of money – for the feeling of always wearing the brand-new look.
Over 90 percent of production in Asia
In the future, however, Adidas does not want to outsource the corresponding orders to Ansbach, according to insiders, but to factories in Vietnam, Indonesia and China. Already today, the company has significantly more than 90 percent of its products produced in Asia.
In 2018, Adidas and Oechsler won the German Innovation Prize with the 2017 Speedfactory.
