On Sunday, at 6:50 am, a fire broke out in a farm shed, at a place called Crenvez, in Callac. The alert was given by two neighbors, witnesses of the crackling of flames in the chipboard. Twenty firefighters from the rescue centers of Callac, Mael-Carhaix, Carhaix, Saint-Nicolas-du-Pelem and Pordic, were mobilized. The device consisted of two pump-ton vans, two water supply trucks and an assistance vehicle for the charging of breathing apparatus.
Twenty tons of ammonitrate nearby
The 500 m building2 was totally destroyed by fire. Inside, some farm equipment could be saved in time. The rest, 400 bales of straw, a tractor and a plow, went up in smoke. The intervention was made difficult by the risk of spreading to the adjoining building, which housed about 20 tons of ammonitrate. The latter was finally not touched. No casualties were reported.
An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to determine the origin of the incident. For the record, a shed burned nearby Saint-Servais on October 11th.
