The Chinese have created the surprise. The Chinese FPX team won Sunday the final of the world championships video game League of Legends, one of the most important events of the year on the esport scene, beating the European G2 in Paris in front of some 20,000 supporters gathered at Bercy.
The Chinese largely dominated G2, who was going favorite, with a score of 3-0. The Summoner's Cup, the name of the trophy awarded to the winner, remains in China after last year's victory of the Invictus Gaming team.
The Grail of Esport Competitions
G2, however, flew over the season and hoped to offer Europe its first title since 2011. But "Caps", the best European player, and his teammates have not existed against "Doinb" and his own.
The League of Legends Worlds Final is considered the Grail of esport competitions, ie competitive video games tournaments. This is the first time it was held in Paris.
