Despite lucrative Lidl deal: Aldi continues at the Bio-tip

Despite the increasing sales and the acquisition of new customers, Lidl still has a market share of three percent, which is still well behind the organic market leader Aldi, which currently holds a 13 percent market share.

In the meantime, Lidl has replaced 50 of its 230 organic products "Bio Organic" products with food from Bioland. For the coming year, the grocer plans to include other organic products in his assortment – including, in particular, in his fruit and vegetable department and in sausage and bakery products.

Retailers, however, criticize the discounter's organic rail as a mere image improvement and also fear rising price pressure within the organic sector. In the organic business, however, Jan Bock sees no platform for a price competition, which is why one would hold back with special offers and discounts well.
