Football: M'gladbach strengthens its leading position – News Sports: Football

MOnchengladbach consolidated Sunday first place in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 home victory against Bremen in the 11th round.

While the German championship will be a break for international matches, Borussia now has 25 points, four ahead of its immediate rivals, Leipzig and Bayern Munich, impressive winners Saturday too. The RB won Saturday in Berlin against Hertha (2-4), and Bayern also spanked Saturday, Dortmund (4-0).

Sommer stops a penalty

Algerian international Ramy Bensebaini opened the scoring for M'Gladbach in the 20th minute of the lead. He was ruled out four minutes from the end of the match for a second yellow card.

Patrick Herrmann then managed a double (22nd, 59th). The young forward French striker Marcus Thuram, again very legged, did not score, but served Hermann on the second goal.

Note that the Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer beautifully hijacked a Klaassen penalty in the 53rd, while the score was only 1 to 1.

Leonardo Bittencourt saved Bremen's honor in added time (3-1, 90th + 3).
