Captain David Abraham checked cult coach Streich to the ground just before the end and saw referee Felix Brych Red (90. + 6). In the ensuing melee, Vincenzo Grifo (90. + 10), already replaced, picked up his jaw and saw red as well.
He can not do that, he is emotional, that must not happen to him, "sporting director Fredi Bobic told Sky on Abraham. But also the yellow-red card against the former Freiburg Gelson Fernandes (45. + 1) annoyed Bobic: "That was crucial for the game." Goalscorer Nils Petersen scored the winning goal in excess (77.). But that did not interest at first. "In the end, there was so much going on, football does not need that," said SC defender Dominique Heintz.
Freiburg against Frankfurt the more active team
The hosts were in front of 24,000 spectators in the first minutes, the more active team. The team of Streich proved that it can not only fight and run, but also combine. Grifo (7th) and Lucas HOler (8th) gave tight, but ultimately too imprecise shots.
Frankfurt's great opportunity for an early lead, however, was due to chance. After an uncertainty from SC keeper Mark Flekken the ball landed at the 2014 World Champion Erik Durm, who failed with his degree from just under 20 meters at the crossbar (12).
After the quite entertaining beginning the events calmed down. The guests were keen on ball safety, and as soon as they succeeded, the Freiburger ran mostly behind. The sometimes even minute-long ball possession phases of Eintracht, however, did not pose any danger as did the sporadic counterattacks of the sports club.
Freiburg against Frankfurt: Petersen again ice cold
That Frankfurt in a weak first half but still by Martin Hinteregger (35) and Goncalo Paciencia (38) came to scores, Streich literally in rage. After the double chance the coach scolded like a Rohrspatz – his proteges missed the usual passion as far as possible.
Fernandes' dismissal changed the balance of power on the pitch, but that only affected the ball. Even if Roland Sallai forced Frankfurt keeper Frederik ROnnow to a brilliant reflex five minutes after the restart, the Freiburgers lacked the punch.
With increasing duration, the guests broke free, but then Petersen struck ice cold with his sixth goal of the season. Flekken prevented the compensation against Hinteregger (84.).
