Intellectuals denounce coup against Evo Morales in Venezuela

November 9, 2019, 9:38 p.m.Caracas, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) Intellectuals participating in the International Book Fair of Venezuela (Filven 2019) denounced today that the destabilizing actions perpetrated by the opposition in Bolivia are a blatant attempted coup against President Evo Morales.

During the Latin America panel, insurgent history, the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, warned that what happens in this nation is the same script that they tried to apply against the Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, "The rule of law, democracy, human rights, are vulgar masks that the dominant classes use at will, here we saw it and we see it permanently," said the minister.

He recalled that the Bolivian head of state took advantage of his opponent and stressed 'what is happening is a sign that the oligarchy does not respect anything, is a deep disrespect to the popular will, does not respect small, medium, or large victory, is an antithesis of the deep meaning of the word democracy '.

Villegas summoned the intellectuals and progressive peoples to raise the flags of democracy claiming the political processes that take place in Latin America.

Meanwhile, the economist Carmen Bohorquez, warned that behind these actions are the oligarchies of the region and the United States, and noted "new coups are the way to confront progressive movements in Latin America."

Bohorquez urged all intellectuals in the world to unite and pronounce themselves against what is happening in Bolivia.

For his part, the political scientist Arantxa Tirado stressed the similarity between that process and what happened in Venezuela and explained that they are the new ways to stop progressive movements in the region.
