According to the New York Police Department, Matt Travis was riding his bike south on a bike lane leaving the Willis Avenue bridge in East Harlem around 2:30 a.m. Street. Alvarez added: "He says don't turn left, so for these people it doesn't matter what time it is and they left it there like that, it doesn't make any sense."

Nieves told CBS New York that the family expects the driver to be caught. “I hope that when you close your eyes and go to sleep at night, you will see the lifeless body of my son that you left on the street. I hope he chases you for the rest of your life, ”Nieves told the news station.
