A year ago, the NFL moved Monday Night Football between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams, from Mexico City to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum due to the poor state of the Azteca Stadium.

But after additional resources were put to improve the conditions of the Azteca Stadium, this year the Monday night game between Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers will be played on November 18 without problems according to sources familiar with the situation.

This is due, at least in part, to a concerted NFL effort to improve field conditions.

Last spring, the Azteca Stadium hired a field consultant recommended by the NFL who has reviewed the field. He installed a new pipe drainage system, sand gravel base and irrigation system. In mid-June there was new grass.

No concerts were planned at the Azteca Stadium from August to November, and the stadium has not had football games since November 2. Last year, football games and concerts, paired with a significant amount of rain, left the field done “a disaster, ”according to sources.

On the other hand, the authorities of the complex located south of the Mexican capital, presumed in the official account of the stadium the works that are carried out on the court -painting, placing the posts etc- a little more than a week from the expected NFL game in Mexico.
