Gina Maria Schumacher (22) and her brother Mick (20) paid tribute to their father Michael (50) this weekend. Everyone in his own way!
On November 13, 1994, the iconic racer won his first Formula One World Championship title. For this 15 year anniversary, Gina Maria dedicated her father a ride in Verona, Mick gave him a speech at the sports press ball in Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old Schumi daughter took part in a Western tournament in the Italian city of Verona on Saturday. In the "freestyle reining", a kind of freestyle, in which it is not uncommon to wear disguises, Gina Maria and her horse performed in a complete "Ferrari" dress.
Gina Maria wore a red racer suit and helmet, while her horse was wrapped in a long, red blanket with a big "Ferrari" logo on it. The end of the saddle was modeled on the rear spoiler of a sports car, on its back stood "Horse Power" (German "horsepower") in capital letters. An appearance that clearly must have been directed at her father, the "Ferrari" star Michael Schumacher.
Also on Saturday Mick Schumacher got the award "sportsman with heart" at the sports press ball in the Frankfurt Old Opera. Seven years after his dad Michael was honored there as a "legend of the sport".
In his speech of thanks, the young racing talent loses touching words about his father: "I'm very proud of him." From a test drive in his father's 2000 Ferrari he enthuses:
"That was very emotional. It was always a dream of me to sit in the car, just like in the 2002s. I was allowed to drive both this year. I was overwhelmed. I also drove in his seat. Strangely, I fit in perfectly. "
