Sony barely sells smartphones and hires several software services


A few months ago, Sony said that smartphones are no longer designed and manufactured for sales. There is a confirmation for this with the latest business figures, because the Japanese manufacturer will barely get rid of more than half a million devices in a quarter. While Sony was able to sell more than one million Xperia smartphones every quarter in the previous year, it was just 900,000 copies in the first quarter of 2019 and only 600,000 in the second quarter.   • 2018: 6.5 million
  • 2019: 2.5 million (forecast)

Sony is done with the smartphone business, there is not much to discuss about it. As with HTC, it was a descent on installments that could not be reversed with weak strategies.
