Thanks also to Yann Sommer, Borussia MOnchengladbach consolidates its leading position in the Bundesliga. After the 3-1 win over Bremen Gladbach have four points ahead of the first pursuers.

On the way to the ultimately secure home victory MOnchengladbach had to survive one or the other difficult phase. The Bremen failed but also with their best opportunities in the strong summer. The Swiss national goalie parried before the break a shot and a header from six meters strong. In the 53rd minute, he held a penalty by Davy Klaassen and thus prevented the 1: 2.

The first two goals were scored in the middle of the first half by Algerian Ramy Bensebaini, who met for the first time in the Bundesliga and flew off the pitch in the final stages, and Patrick Herrmann. The since 2008 for the Gladbacher playing Herrmann provided with the 3: 0 after scarce hour also for the final decision.

Red for Gelson Fernandes

Among the first pursuers of MOnchengladbach is the SC Freiburg, who prevailed in the pursuit duel against Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0. Nils Petersen scored in the 77th minute and rewarded the hosts for their efforts in the second half. That the Frankfurt had to defend more after the break, was also due to Gelson Fernandes. The Swiss midfield player conceded a yellow-red card in injury time in the first half, the second in his Bundesliga career. An unnecessary foul on the sidelines was fatal to the veteran.

In the turbulent final phase of the Eintracht Frankfurt would have come after an attack initiated by Djibril Sow almost equalized. The goal remained, but there were two more referrals: Against the Frankfurt David Abraham, the Freiburg coach Cristian Streich foolhardy knocked over, sprinting after the ball in offside, and against the previously replaced Freiburg Vincenzo Grifo, the ex-Basel after his action reached into the face.
