Tennis: Novak secures second challenger title



The Lower Austrian Dennis Novak won his second title on the second highest level of the ATP Tour at the Challenger Tournament in Bratislava (114,800 Euro). The 26-year-old prevailed in the final against Bosnian Damir Dzumhur, number 103 in the ATP ranking, in only 50 minutes with 6: 1 6: 1.

Novak showed an excellent performance against Dzumhur from the start. After two breaks to 2: 0 and 5: 1 transformed the 26-year-old at his own serve after 22 minutes his third set ball. Even in the second round Novak Dzumhur, after all, three-time tournament winner on the ATP Tour, did not develop at all and was quickly ahead with 4-0. With the third break or second match ball, he finally fixed the tournament victory.

His only title to date on the ATP Challenger Tour was Austria's number two (ATP-126.) In Taipei in April. At that time, the NiederOsterreicher, who in the ATP ranking slowly climbed to the Top 100 with the title in Bratislava and is expected to be 108th on Monday, had in the final against Ukrainian Sergei Stachowski in just 61 minutes with 6: 2 6: 4 enforced. His previous high in the world rankings was 104th in June.
