November 10, 2019.- Political scientist Noam Chomsky denounces that the US is behind the coup d'etat of the opposition in Bolivia to overthrow President Evo Morales."The coup is promoted by the Bolivian oligarchy (…) and has the full support of the United States Government, which has long been eager to expel Evo Morales and his power movement," said the renowned American political scientist.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Chosmky warned that the operations center of the US embassy in La Paz (Bolivian capital) has revealed two plans in the South American country: “the 'plan A', a coup d'etat, and the 'plan B', the murder of Morales, ”he said.

According to the political scientist, the Bolivian opposition prepares a coup d'etat after the failure it suffered in the elections last October 20 against the Movement to Socialism (MAS), led by Morales.

Such actions constitute a serious violation of the Charter of the United Nations and of all international norms, he lamented, before expressing his hope that the Bolivian people and Government will frustrate the plots against him.

On Friday, Morales announced that opposition elements seek to take him out of power, with actions such as the recent riot of police in three central cities of the country. Given this situation, the indigenous leader called the political parties to dialogue to "defend democracy" and pacify Bolivia.

However, opposition groups did not cease their coup plans and besieged the building where the Red Patria Nueva and the Bolivia TV (BTV) channel operate on Saturday, in an attempt to "silence the press" to demand the resignation of the head of State in ignorance of its constitutional mandate, as Morales warns.

For its part, the Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated that the actions of radical opposition groups against the country's media constitute a violation of the freedom of the press and the right to communication and the basic principles of the rule of law.
