Van der Poel achieves his third consecutive title at Silvelle

Drafting Sports, Nov 10 (EFE) .- The Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel was proclaimed this Sunday for the third consecutive year European champion of cyclocros by winning in the Italian town of Silvelle ahead of the Belgians Eli Iserbyt and Laurens Sweeck.

Van der Poel, 24, was handcuffed by the Dutch team's strategy until the last lap, when he launched his attack.

The Dutchman remained firm despite the harassment of the Belgians until he was victorious to add his tenth title in an elite championship and the third consecutive in Europe after two World Cups and five nationals.

Iserbyt finished second to three seconds and Sweeck completed the podium at 20. The Spaniard Felipe Orts finished in ninth place at 1:22. EFE
