Alien Reyes from Buenos Aires won the 33rd edition of the race in the 42km specialty, registering a time of 2:37:22. He was escorted by his countrymen Alexis Machado and Yoel Ricardo Hernandez, in times of 2:42: 50 and 2:45:00, the official site reported Cubadebate.
Reyes, who in previous editions of the race had reached three bronze and one silver medals, managed to climb for the first time to the top of the podium.
The winner told the press that the first part of the circuit was difficult, because the rain raged when he was going through the Sports City, but on the second lap he escaped and could take the rhythm. Thus, the training conducted in the sand of a river near his home found a reward on the morning of this Sunday.
"Now to prepare for the Madrid marathon and continue to represent Cuba in international competitions," he said.
Among the women, Santiago Yudileivis Castillo retained the crown for the third time in a row (2: 43.05), while the Maya from Lima Liuris Martha Figueredo entered second, with time of three hours, five minutes and five seconds. The Italian medalist Gabriele Toffoli completed (3:09:32).
In the men's half marathon section, the lauro went to the Yuleidys La O Terrero Cubans, Dairan Suarez and Francisco Rodney Estevez, owners of the chronicles 1:09:25; 1:10:39 and 1:10:45, respectively.
In the master category (66 to 70 years), the Uruguayan Diver Viera Viera won the gold. Viera, who for the first time visits Cuba, said that the rain favored him, because there was not so much heat, he was able to conclude the tour in one hour, 52 minutes and 30 seconds.
For women, the podium was divided between the French Normand Elodie (1:19:08), and the Cuban Arletis Thaureaux and Yumileydis Mestre, with 1:20:30 and 1: 21:03 marks, respectively.
On the other hand, the 10km distance was led in both sexes by Maher Salah Mahroos (0:37:24) and Dayli Marlin Copper (0:38:25), both Cubans.
In the section of athletes with disabilities, Angel Alexis Ortiz dominated the test in the category of the deaf (0:46:31), while Jorge Ulises Calzada did it in the wheelchair (0:42:26).
