ArcelorMittal denies the stay until May –

ROME – New chapter of the battle between ArcelorMittal and Local Authorities. The company claims that it has never declared to Michele Emiliano, governor of the Puglia Region, that it will remain until May of next year managing the former Ilva steel plants. Sources close to the company state this. The news of ArcelorMittal's stay until May was given yesterday by the president of Confindustria Taranto, Antonio Marinaro, after having received a phone call from the same Emiliano who yesterday in Bari met Lucia Morselli, the group's managing director. Meanwhile, from union sources, we learn that Arcelor on November 26 will stop the "Treno 2" in Taranto.
In the meantime, the company has provided the unions with a program that indicates the closing times that will affect the steel industry in Taranto. The plan provides that the blast furnace 2 be stopped on December 13th, blast furnace 4 at the end of December and blast furnace 1 in mid-January. There will also be a stop for coking plants and power plants. Total shutdown of the Taranto plant next January. The unions of ArcelorMittal Italy, Lucia Morselli, then "clarified that the company will comply with all commitments, starting from the payment of the fees provided for by the contract".

Meanwhile, for tomorrow, a meeting between the trade unions and the minister is scheduled for the Ministry of Economic Development at 3 pm: Stefano Patuanelli has summoned Lucia Morselli and the leaders of the metalworkers Fim, Fiom and Uilm to the Mise. The convocation follows the withdrawal notice sent by the multinational.
