Aquila Capital strengthens renewables and reaches 10 GW with a focus on Portugal and Spain – Energy

Aquila Capital, a German manager specializing in long-term investments in real assets, reinforced its leadership position as a manager of sustainable real assets, by adding 3 gigawatts (GW) to its portfolio in Europe, bringing installed capacity to 10 GW.

The geographical focus of the company’s investments in 2020 was in Spain and Portugal, advances Aquila, in a statement sent to newsrooms. Next, the territories that most attracted investment were Italy and Norway.

Aquila Capital’s bet on renewables was heterogeneous, including hydroelectric, wind and solar energy, within which it closed a total of 12 transactions last year. Still, most of the recent investments are solar projects that are now under development. The manager believes that this energy “provides a stable and predictable cash flow with relatively low volatility and an increasingly attractive risk-return profile”. “With the demand for renewable energy generation growing continuously, this market offers increasingly attractive opportunities for investors. We are delighted to have strengthened our leadership position and look forward to continuing to build a diversified portfolio of renewables in Europe. in 2021 “, says Susanne Wermter, responsible for the energy and infrastructure for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Aquila Capital.

In this way, the company underlines the contribution it is making to the ongoing energy transition process in Europe.
