First taste of MotoGP for the 2021 season. Today at the Losail circuit, in Qatar, the shakedown test reserved for test riders and rookies that opens the pre-season test program in view of the 2021 World Championship. Stefan Bradl, Honda tester (and probable replacement for Marc Marquez in case he fails to recover from the injury and return to the track for the start of the new season), was the fastest: the German, on a track in less than ideal conditions and with strong wind and sand at conditioning his performance, he completed 55 laps on the Qatari track, setting the best time of 1’55 ″ 614 that no other driver on the track has managed to get close. The HRC test rider in fact preceded two Yamaha testers whose names the MotoGP did not disclose (the official test driver Cal Crutchlow in fact alternated driving the M1 with some Japanese riders) who in their best time trial respectively suffered a delay of 1 236 ″ and 1 ″ 518 by leader Bradl.
Surprising fourth final position for the reigning Moto2 World Champion Enea Bastianini who at his official debut on the Ducati of the Avintia team (with whom he will race in the 2021 MotoGP World Championship) in his best lap stopped the clock at 1’58 ″ 051 ahead , by just five thousandths, the expert test driver of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer Michele Pirro and, by more than 3 tenths, his teammate Luca Marini, author of the 8th best time. Last among the rookies was the Spaniard Jorge Martin who with the Ducati of Team Pramac finished with the 10th best time of the day.
