Closing with a fall on Wall Street

First entry: Friday, March 5, 2021, 04:00

The Wall Street capital market closed in the red, influenced by the rise in US government bond yields and the intervention of the head of the Federal Reserve (Fed) Jerome Powell, which seemed to reduce the rising cost of government borrowing and overheating of the economy and rising inflation.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 345.95 points (-1.11%) at 30,924.14 points.

After falling almost 10% from its most recent record on February 12, the index is approaching the “correction” chosen in the idiom of the brokers.

The S&P 500 index, which is considered more indicative of the general trend, closed with a fall of 51.25 points (-1.34%), to 3,768.47 points.
