Google announced today interesting changes that will be implemented in the company’s maps this year. These solutions will be available both in Google maps for Android and for iOS.
The first change is to enter a mode Live Mode to new places. For some time, owners of some Android smartphones and iPhones have been able to use augmented (enriched) reality in Google maps, thanks to which it is easier to recognize your location and which way we should go.
Already, the new mode can be used by people spending time in some shopping malls, among others in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco or Newark. However, this year, this option will also work at airports, metro stations and shopping malls in Tokyo and Zurich, among others. In addition, the company intends to systematically introduce this solution in other cities.
A novelty is also the possibility of determining the route during which exhaust emissions will be the lowest. Initially, the so-called environmentally friendly routes will only be available in the United States.
In addition, the maps will contain information about the city’s low-emission zones. Initially, this option will be available in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain and the UK.
A new feature that will be available first in Australia, India and the United States is weather and air quality information. Map users will be able to choose a special display mode for a given area with information overlaid.
