Russian fishermen from the beginning of this year to March 28 caught 720 thousand tons of pollock in the Far Eastern basin, which is 17.1% less than the same period in 2020, follows from the data of the Federal Agency for Fishery.
In particular, the department states, 650.2 thousand tons were produced in the Sea of Okhotsk (minus 17.9% YoY).
As Finmarket reminds, pollock is the main fishing resource in Russia, its share in the total catch exceeds 35%.
Meanwhile, the catch of Pacific herring since the beginning of the year jumped by 54.4% to 89.1 thousand tons. The catch of cod was 50.5 thousand tons, which corresponds to last year’s figure.
We also add that the revenue of fishing enterprises in Russia increased in 2020 by only 8%. Such data earlier in an online interview to the PrimaMedia publication was provided by the president of the All-Russian Association of Fishery Industries, German Zverev.
“The industry’s revenue last year increased from 642 billion rubles to 695 billion, but this is an increase of only 8%. Let me remind you that in 2019, revenue growth was 20%, and in general, in the previous five years, the average revenue growth rate was double-digit – 15-18%. The profit of the industry has fallen, <...> in 2019, the industry profit amounted to 180 billion rubles, in 2020 – 150 billion rubles, ”stated Zverev, quoted by TASS.
The head of the association drew attention to the fact that for the first time in 10 years, the total amount of tax revenues from fishing enterprises decreased – from 76 to 74 billion rubles.
