When accessing the Internet, most Russians most often communicate with loved ones, read news and conduct banking operations. In addition, in the past two years, users have doubled the frequency of buying online. The results of the survey were announced by Stepan Lvov, Director for Strategic Development of VTsIOM, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, when asked why a person uses the Internet, 90% answered “communicating with loved ones”, 83% – “reading news”, 80% – “banking operations”.
At the same time, the share of those who buy goods online has grown over the past two years from 14 to 27%.
But the sphere of education is “sinking”. According to Lvov, there is stagnation and there are no indicators of increase. Lvov admitted that two-thirds of the audience applied for such services, but in general, the share remains at the same level.
Also, in 2021, the number of respondents who believe that the Internet is harmful to our society increased – 32% against 24% of the indicators in 2013. The percentage of those who believe that the Internet is beneficial has hardly changed: 54% versus 53%.
In addition, for the first time, the share of active Internet users who do not watch TV exceeded the share of those who only watch TV. Now the ratio is almost twofold – 28% to 17%.
The survey involved 1.6 thousand Russians aged 18 and over, coverage – at least 80 regions, 500 cities and 100 villages.
